Safety conference ... No compromise … we care ...

On Wednesday 30 November a Safety Conference was held by HSEQ department at Semco Maritime. Invitations had been sent to all employees from Danish and Norwegian onshore departments as well as offshore safety representatives.
The event was attended by almost 450 attentive employees. The conference “No compromise – we care” was opened by HSEQ manager Dorthe Ulsø. CEO Steen Brødbæk, pictured above, welcomed all the employees and emphasized that for Semco Maritime Safety is a priority. Mikael Kamber, popular Danish journalist and former media director at Danish television, introduced the three speakers and ensured the smooth running of the event.
The three speakers that gave their presentations on safety were:
Tore Paulsen, HSE Manager at Statoil explained how Statoil’s 0-injury philosophy is accomplished in a busy working day.
Nils Villemoes, Danish professor for Organisation and Management explained with great humour how the human mind works and why we do things in certain ways.
Odd Sevland, Norwegian firefighter rounded off the safety conference with a gripping and very personal story of his own experiences, he explained why safety rules must be followed. You need to care – not only for your own safety but also for the safety of others – We can all influence other people’s attitude to safety.
All in all a very successful and thought provoking day which highlighted the need for thoughtfulness and solidarity.
