Rig upgrade of Polar Pioneer

Semco Maritime A/S has been awarded a contract for a rig upgrade of Transocean’s semi-submersible drilling unit POLAR PIONEER to be carried out in Tromsø, Norway.
The yard stay is planned to last for around two weeks in total.
The project will be carried out in close co-operation with Tromsø Harbour who will supply the logistic services, and several local subcontractors will also contribute. Semco Maritime will supply the project management as a teamwork between the Danish and the Norwegian organisations in Esbjerg and Stavanger.
- This project brings Semco Maritime back in the rig upgrade business in Norway where we have been absent since the days when such projects were completed by OIS Contracting who is now an integrated department in Semco Maritime A/S. This is the first major rig upgrade project to be completed in Northern Norway and we look forward to the challenges. We are grateful to Transocean Norway for choosing Semco Maritime as the main contractor for this project. If all goes according to plan this will be the first of many projects according to Vice President Hans-Peter Jørgensen.
