Royal visits at Semco Maritime

Visit by her Royal Highness Queen Margrethe II

We are honoured that Semco Maritime was asked to be one of the hosts during the visit of her Royal Highness Queen Margrethe II during her visit in Esbjerg on 2nd June 2008.

The Queen was received at the Yard of Semco Maritimes at Esbjerg Harbour by our chairman of the board Anders Obel,  our President Erik Gaj Nielsen and the manager of the yard Peter Jakobsen.

The visit was only scheduled to 50 minutes, so we had chosen to make a brief presentation of Semco Maritime, thereafter there was a guided tour around the Yard, where the Queen could see the ongoing work, i.a. the modules Galaxy and Horns Rev.

The visit ended in the Horn Rev module, where tables had been set up in the room which will be the dining room of the rig. Here we could offer a glass of wine and petit fours.  Erik Gaj Nielsen thanked for the visit and offered a gift for the Queen: A necklace and earrings made of amber by the local artist Ravsliber Jens Peter Jensen from Sønderho at Fanø.

It was a festive day at Semco Maritime!

Royal visit in Vietnam

During the state visit of the royal family in November 2009 Semco Maritime was among a dozen of Danish companies that had been highlighted in connection with a big sales promotion in Hanoi. Semco Maritime has opened a new factory for production of accommodation modules for jack-up-rigs in the waters off Indochina. Prince Henrik and Crown Prince Frederik both wanted to hear more about this project when they passed Vice President Hans-Peter Jørgensen and Manager of Semco Maritime Vietnam, Sigvald Vik.
The 69 Danish companies participating in the event under the title ”Denmark and Vietnam – Let’s Do Business”, were met by about  1.000 local businessmen in Hanoi and a similar number in Ho Chi Minh City .

 - We will produce accommodation modules at our new-built factory in Vung Tau and furthermore we will make rig upgrades at the new quay facilities within the next few years. In the light of these plans we met considerable interest from local companies who are potential cooperation partners in Vung Tau. The employment of subcontractors is very similar to our working methods in Esbjerg, where local companies profit by our projects – this will also be the case in Vietnam, says Hans-Peter Jørgensen.
