1. Apply online

Apply for a vacant position:
If you are interested in one of our job openings, please apply online as we only accept electronic applications. You will receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours.

We screen all our applications continually during the application period. In order to find the right match we look at competences, experience and education.

Unsolicited applications:

2. The first interview

The purpose of the first interview is to get an impression of the person behind the application and to clarify expectations. You will get the opportunity to explain your motivation in applying for the job and we will introduce you to our company, departments and values.

If you have given us your consent, we will also follow up on your references at this point.

3. The second interview

Based on the information provided in your application and interview, we will make use of various profile tools in the second interview.

For some positions we also use cases to get an impression of the candidate’s analytical and problem-solving abilities.

We will go into your professional qualifications and personal competences in depth using two tools:

  1. We use a personality profile analysis (PPA) - a tool to assess behaviour. The analysis does not show the full truth but we use it as a great dialogue tool to help us learn more about you as a person. 
  2. GIA (General Intelligence Test) - not an IQ test.
    This test looks at your abilities within 5 areas: 
    1. Reasoning
    2. Perceptual speed
    3. Number speed and accuracy
    4. Word meaning
    5. Spatial visualisation

We will provide feedback on your profile and/or the result of your tests and on how well the results match the job at hand.

4. Evaluation and decision

After the second interview, we will evaluate and make a decision based on the two interviews.

If everything goes according to plan - and you get the job, you will begin a on-boarding process which will make sure that you become successfully integrated in the Semco-organisation.

At Semco Maritime the on-boarding process begins even before your first day and continues throughout your first year in your new job. Below you will find the basic principles of your introduction!

Pre-arrival
Prior to your first day, we make sure that all relevant people know that you are joining us. The reception is prepared to welcome you and a buddy or mentor is appointed to guide you through your first day.

Your first day
We want your first day to be a positive experience. We want you to feel welcome and you will be introduced to your new colleagues and we will show you around your new workplace. Your personal introduction plan will also be presented to you.

Your first week
After the first week, we want you to feel that you have been welcomed and you know your new team. You see and understand the overall principles of your new job – and you can imagine yourself filling out these frames independently.

Your first month
During your first month you will become more and more independent when solving daily tasks and you know what is expected of you. At this point we will ask for your feedback to determine if you need further introduction to certain areas or certain tasks.

Your first quarter
After your first 3 months you will know Semco Maritime as a company and you are familiar with all your colleagues. At this point you will also be able to complete tasks independently and deliver as expected in your role. 

Your first year
You are now able to reflect on your first year at Semco Maritime. If everything went according to our plan, you will be looking back on a solid introduction and a job content that matches the original job description and recruitment dialogue.
